Elmodis diagnostic and monitoring modules are installed in an electrical switchgear room. Connection is performed without any interference in the wiring system. The measurements are performed very frequently, which enables maximum efficiency of diagnostics (e.g. detecting dynamic irregularities in machine operation). The collected data is subject to processing and preliminary data aggregation in a diagnostic module. A diagnostic and monitoring module enables integration of vibration sensors and selected process parameters (temperature, pressure, flow rate, etc.), if necessary. Elmodis solution is fully scalable – new diagnostic and monitoring modules can easily be added without needing to reconstruct or implement the entire system from scratch. The diagnostic and monitoring devices are designed and manufactured by Polish professionals, which enables continuous development of the product and in special cases, its adaptation to the needs of individual clients.

The diagnostic and monitoring modules connected with one another and operating on-line send preprocessed data to the computing cloud. Edge computing (processing at the machine) allows to obtain high quality data (free of “noises”, containing only the vital operating parameters of a machine) and considerably reduce its volume, which significantly affects transmission rate. Processing and transfer are performed in real time (real time processing) and an end user obtains a possibility to view current operating parameters of a machine without delay. The selection of data transmission method depends on the nature of operation and site conditions of the industrial facility whereas possible communication forms include Wi-Fi, GPRS, and Ethernet. Thus, lack of Internet infrastructure does not preclude the use of Industrial Internet of Things.

Data and reports are stored in the computing cloud operating in the SaaS (Software as a Service) module. All applications necessary for the operation of the system are activated on virtual cloud platforms allowing smooth scaling, according to the current needs. It releases end users from the necessity to install additional applications and bear the related costs of purchasing hardware necessary to operate them such as computers, servers, IT network infrastructure. At the same time it is guaranteed that within the subscription the user enjoys the latest version of the system without any additional fee. The registered user has permanent access to the information on the current machine condition and can preview archived data and reports. The data is encrypted and protected against unauthorized access. It is also possible to personalize the reports according to the needs and/or authorization granted to a particular user. The results are presented in the form of reports. The content of reports is specifically defined – users pay only for the subscribed services.

With the patented method of current analysis, it is possible to detect irregularities in the operation of an industrial machine. Data is processed in the cloud based on machine learning algorithms and virtual process and measurement models dedicated to different types of machines (e.g. pumps, fans, conveyors). The learning algorithms make each new dataset to improve analytical model, which translates into more efficient prediction (anticipation of possible failures) and analysis of current condition of machine. Thanks to the analysis and comparison of data from multiple monitored devices (e.g. many fan-driving motors of the same class) the prediction efficiency level may be increased. As a result, users may reduce or completely exclude losses related to unscheduled outages and failures. It is also possible to obtain information on actual operating time of machines and value of energy they consume, which is necessary in order to optimize the use of machines in the production process. The information is accessible by an Internet browser of any device connected to the Internet, including mobile devices (tablet, smartphone).
